Definition
The psychological and spiritual factors in war — courage, discipline, enmity, national feeling, the personality of the commander. Clausewitz insists these are not incidental; they are constitutive of military power. The moral elements are among the most important in war. An army’s physical force can be calculated; its moral force can only be estimated.
