SOF Acquisition, Technology & Logistics (SOF AT&L)
SOF AT&L is USSOCOM acquisition. Title 10 U.S.C. 167 gives the command service-like authority to develop and buy SOF-peculiar equipment on its own, so SOF AT&L runs its own contracting divisions and its own program executive offices rather than going through the military departments. That authority, paired with dedicated Major Force Program 11 funding, is why SOCOM can move faster than the services on equipment unique to special operations.
