USARCENT is the theater army for USCENTCOM, running Army operations across the Middle East, Central Asia, and the Horn of Africa from Shaw Air Force Base with a forward headquarters at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. It carries the Third Army lineage. Two decades of continuous operations made it the Army’s most contract-dependent theater.

Mission
USARCENT provides Army forces to USCENTCOM, sets and sustains the theater, and exercises Title_10_USC administrative control over Army units in the AOR. Its enduring tasks are integrated air and missile defense of partner and U.S. facilities, sustainment of a distributed base network, security cooperation with Gulf partners, and readiness to surge a corps-sized force.

Why it matters
Integrated air and missile defense is the theater’s defining demand. Patriot, THAAD, Sentinel radar, IFPC, and Counter_UAS systems are employed in CENTCOM more heavily and more continuously than anywhere else, and interceptor expenditure there drives Army munitions replenishment budgets. CPE_Defensive_Fires and CPE_Integrated_Fires portfolios are validated against this theater’s operational record.
Counter-drone is not theoretical here. One-way attack drones and cruise missiles against fixed sites are a daily problem. Systems that demonstrate here get credibility everywhere else.
Base operations support is a huge services market. Camp Arifjan, the Jordan sites, and the Gulf base network sustain a large LOGCAP and base operations support footprint executed through Army_Sustainment_Command and Army_Contracting_Command. This is where a services-oriented company can find recurring, recompeted work.
Foreign military sales to Gulf partners. Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain, and Iraq are among the largest Army FMS customers. USARCENT is the operational advocate; USASAC and DASA_Defense_Exports_Cooperation execute.
Prepositioned stocks. Army Prepositioned Stocks-5 in Kuwait and Qatar carry ongoing maintenance, storage, and modernization workload managed by AMC.
